The room was amazing. Love the bed and bathroom. The hotel gym and pool were top notch loved the place. I did not love the location though it was very not so much in the nice part of town in my opinion. A lot of interesting people around there. But the hotel security is very on top of things and they do an amazing job

THE ONLY PLACE I ...

THE ONLY PLACE I WILL STAY IN SAN FRANCISCO Let me preface my review by saying that I already had NYC fully booked for an extended weekend for my family of 5 for the Memorial Day weekend. Literally, 5 days before a holiday weekend, I had to change my entire vacation. I wanted connecting rooms (parents in one and 3 teens in the next). I worked with Michael and the sweetest lady with a Japanese accent on the phone. The hotel only has a few of this room type and didn't have connectors at the time I was booking. Upon arrival, Judy reviewed all the options and figured out how to get a connecting room for us! We were only separated from the kids (on the same floor) for one night and the guest in the room connected to our room would check out the next day. The next day, the kids were reassigned and in the room connected to ours! Elizabeth at the front desk helped me during the room change for the kids and then the next day addressed me by my name when I was back to ask a question. My husband was with me and so impressed. EVERY hotel staff member greeted us with a smile. As soon as you step into the hotel, the aromatherapy (we miss that smell) and the beautiful decor and lighting transport you to a world of soothing elegance. Even the entry from the carport/valet area had beautiful fresh floral arrangements. The lobby had lots of seating and was very comfortable. We even enjoyed eating a quick breakfast that we grabbed from the cafe around the corner. The rooms were beautiful. The color palette of white, gold, and bright blue made the entire hotel and the rooms feel light, bright, and elegant. We got to experience 3 rooms: dbl queen, dbl double, and king. The dbl queen (room 1210) had a entry hallway with a couple of turns. Made for a grand entry and the kids really liked that. It was a great size for multiple people and the bathroom was huge (with both shower and tub)! The king was ideal for two people. We didn't feel cramped at all. The table and two armchairs were ideal for us to do some work. The bathroom was beautiful (room 1206). Our room in the corner and the front entry was tucked in a private alcove. We were away from the elevator but just a few steps from the ice machine and the water dispenser. So convenient! Never heard the ice machine being used either. The kids dbl double (room 1207) was a nice set up for multiple people. It had an alcove to set two suitcases, large counter where they set their toiletry bags and things, and separate toilet room from the bathroom. Again the bathroom had a tub and shower. There was no fridge or microwave. We never missed these. The in-room coffee maker was nice to have in the mornings. Their soaps and lotions smelled so soothing. The beds! They were solid and firm and plush on top. My back was sooooo happy. The rooms were the cleanest I have seen in a hotel! I am extremely picky about cleanliness. I always bring saniwipes and wipe surfaces down. I bring hotel slippers so I don't actually step on the floor with my socks. However, Hotel Nikko was immaculate. I checked the drawers...no dust, particles, etc. The bathroom was spotless. When housekeeping tidied our room, they lined up our toiletries on fresh wash cloths!! The location was so convient. Very short walk from the Powell St BART station and the end of the cable car route. Lots of shopping (Unions Sq and Market St) and restaurants. Mellis Cafe (like a bodega) is around the corner for easy breakfast items. I love that it was not busy with tourists like other areas of the city. The pool, fitness center, and outdoor patios were clean and inviting. We were on the 12th floor and noticed very little street/city noise. During the night, I don't think we ever heard anything to wake us up. I think I hit everything. We seriously didn't want to leave the hotel. We look forward to staying again when we are back in SF. Great thanks to Michael, Judy, Elizabeth, and the sweet lady with the Japanese accent for helping to make our trip to SF so enjoyable and memorable!
