Walk or run across Golden Gate Bridge

May 14 – 17, 2020 – Postponed to August 3-9, 2020

Walk across the Golden Gate Bridge for 1.7 miles into the Marin Headlands, with sweeping views of San Francisco Bay. If you are adventurous, walk under the bridge up to Hendrik Point for amazing views of the bridge with the SF skyline in the background, Alcatraz and the Bay Bridge. From the Marin side you can trek into the Marin Headlands or down into Sausalito along the Bay Trail.

Hit the Golden Gate Park trails

Walk, hike or run the trails of this beautiful urban park, including the 6.3-mile loop trail that takes you to the Academy of Sciences, Conservatory of Flowers, Botanical Gardens, deYoung Museum and the Japanese Tea Gardens. Golden Gate Park also offers miles of trails along the bay, including the Land End Trail, Seal Rocks Beach Trail and the California Coastal Trail with amazing views.

Play at Crissy Field at The Presidio

Walk or bike through Crissy Field along the Golden Gate Promenade with stunning views of the Bay and Golden Gate Bridge. Follow the bay trail between Marina Green and Fort Point, where you'll find beaches, wild open spaces, tidal marshes and overlooks, and great windsurfing.

Kayak and paddleboard on the Bay

Rent a kayak or paddleboard to explore San Francisco Bay with one of the city's outfitters. City Kayak in San Francisco offers rentals, lessons and guided tours from downtown and South Beach to McCovey Cove and Mission Creek, as well twilight trips along the waterfront at dusk.

Follow the Crosstown Trail to See San Francisco

Starting at Candlestick Point, San Francisco's 17-mile Crosstown Trail is a mix of hiking trails, paths, parks and gardens. The all-day trail passes through many neighborhoods and sights, including the beautiful Moraga Steps, and ends at Lands End in Golden Gate Park. This trail literally takes you across San Francisco, so hikers and bikers can see all of SF's character and culture.

A day on the greens of SF

San Francisco offers several incredible public golf courses, including Golden Gate Park Golf Course, TPC Harding Park and Gleneagles. Home of the PGA Tour, TPC Harding Park Course is set against the cypress tree-lined Lake Merced with a challenging layout with soft bunkers and undulating fairways. These beautiful courses are open and practicing social distancing to keep everyone safe.

A drive down the Coast from San Francisco

If you feel like getting out of the city, head down the coast to the amazing beaches of Santa Cruz, Aptos, Capitola and Monterey. The drive down California's central coast is easy with beautiful scenery and gorgeous beaches that edge the Pacific Ocean and rugged cliffs. Lighthouse Field State Beach on the northern end of Monterey Bay in Santa Cruz and Seascape in Aptos are perfect for sunbathing, surfing, swimming, fishing and kayaking.
