Called "the Lioness of Jazz" by JazzReview, Lisa Hilton is one of the most acclaimed women instrumentalists in the genre today. Playing a cool West Coast style of jazz influenced by Miles Davis and Stan Getz, Hilton has accompanied such jazz luminaries as Larry Grenadier, Christian McBride, J.D. Allen and more. Acclaimed for her instantly recognizable, distinctive style of playing, she was praised by Downbeat for "the sheer beauty of her playing," and claims Muddy Waters, Green Day and Stravinsky among her influences. In January, Hilton debuted her new record, Nocturnal, at Carnegie Hall. Now's your chance to hear her perform Nocturnal's "sound paintings" locally, at San Francisco Jazz Center.
