Exploring Pet-friendly San Francisco
If you're traveling to San Francisco for work or vacation, your pooch doesn't have to be left at home. San Francisco is super dog friendly city, with beautiful parks, open spaces, beaches, trails, and neighborhoods to explore. From the Embarcadero waterfront to Golden Gate Park to Crissy Field, San Francisco is a dog friendly playground. And when it comes to dog-friendly hotels, SF welcomes you with tail-wagging hospitality. Check out these dog friendly attractions suggested by the concierge at the Hotel Nikko San Francisco with help from our mascot, Buster.

  1. Walk Around Dog Friendly Parks

With striking vistas of San Francisco and paths lined with trees, Ina Coolbrith Park is tucked away in the Russian Hill neighborhood. Stroll around with your furry friend on a leash, relax on a bench to admire the greenery, and climb the steps to a perfect vantage point of the city at the top.

San Francisco also offers several dog friendly parks, including Lafayette Park Dog Play Area, Alamo Square Park, and Mission Bay Dog Park.

  2. Run at Crissy Field East Beach

Edging San Francisco Bay, Crissy Field East Beach is a popular dog friendly attraction for a woofin' good time. Roam the beach, run on the open fields, go for swim in the bay, and enjoy a picnic with postcard views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Marin Headlands, Angel Island and Alcatraz. If you want to go beyond the sandy shores, visit nearby Fort Mason, where dogs are allowed on a leash.

  3. Hike the Bernal Heights Park Trail

The Bernal Heights Park Trail is a scenic spot for walking, hiking, and trail running. The dog friendly trail offers awesome views of the Golden Gate Bridge, the East Bay hills, and downtown SF. The park and trail offer some off-leash areas so check the signs.

  4. Play Catch at Golden Gate Park

Golden Gate Park is an urban oasis where you and your pet can play and explore. San Francisco's largest pet-friendly park offers four separate off-leash areas for games of catch, walks, sightseeing, and fresh air. The park also offers paths, trails, and green space for dog friendly adventures.

Dine With Your Dog on the Embarcadero Waterfront
San Francisco offers several dog friendly restaurants, including Angler on the Embarcadero waterfront. This Michelin-starred seafood destination offers a two-item menu for dogs dished out with canine-friendly ingredients. While you chow down on lobster and crab, your four-legged friend can enjoy complimentary salmon or a chicken biscuit topped with caviar.
