Holiday Lights -With numerous displays of Christmas, Hanukkah and winter lights, the city becomes a sparkling wonderland this season. The prettiest light displays are located at Embarcadero Center, Pier 39, Ghirardelli Square, City Hall and the corner of Market and Powell Streets.
Ice Skating -Popular with kids, couples and anyone who likes to stay active, San Francisco's ice rinks are open for business all winter long. You'll find large outdoor ice rinks at Embarcadero Center and Union Square.
Parades -Colorful processions of floats, balloons, bands and performers liven up the city streets each winter, and they're all free. Bring the family to the Children's Holiday Parade on December 1 ad to the Parol Lantern Parade on December 8.
New Year's Eve -Witness a dazzling show in the sky at midnight when fireworks are set off from barges off Pier 14. Head to the Embarcadero between Mission and Howard Streets for the best viewing.
