The 2014 San Francisco Giant Race

There's nothing more rewarding than running in a race for a good cause. And if you're a baseball fan, there's nothing more rewarding than running in a race that ends up at AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants. Well, you can accomplish both by entering the 2014 San Francisco Giant Race, which raises much-needed funds for Project Open Hand. Taking place on Sunday, September 7, the 5th annual event features a Half Marathon, 10K run, 5K run and a kids' race. Everyone who finishes will receive a medal, a race t-shirt and a player bobblehead. This year, the bobblehead, which is presented by Toyota, will be catcher extraordinaire Buster Posey.

If you're coming to watch a friend or family member finish the race, you'll be allowed to sit in the stands of AT&T Park and cheer your runner on. Please remember to remain in the stands. Runners will come to you once they've crossed the finish line. And instead of "racing" out once the race is over, you may want to stick around to watch the FedEx Kids Race & Family Relay, which follows the adult races. You'll see kids aged 5-12 running around a baseball field smiling from ear to ear. As for the good cause portion of the San Francisco Giant Race, Project Open Hand prepares 2,500 healthy meals and provides 400 bags of groceries each day to people in the Bay Area who are critically ill.
