Discover a fine collection of modern and contemporary artwork at the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco. Within close proximity of the Hotel Nikko, SFMOMA has displayed works by such renowned artists as Jasper Johns, Jay DeFeo, Cindy Sherman, and Garry Winogrand. The museum, which is open every day except Wednesday, also features guided tours, a fabulous gift shop with very special SF-oriented items, and an indoor/outdoor café, which serves up delectable food along with refreshing coffee drinks.

Caffè Museo at SFMOMA serves a fine array of Italian-inspired dishes, coffee drinks, and wines by the glass. There is indoor and outdoor seating at the restaurant, which is open from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. every day except Wednesday. On Thursdays, it’s open until 9:00 p.m.

Parking & Public Transportation

If you’re driving, you’ll have your choice of several parking garages, including the SFMOMA Garage right behind the museum at 147 Minna Street and the Fifth and Mission Garage at 833 Mission Street. Taking public transit is a snap. There are several bus lines from all over the Bay Area as well as Caltrain from the South Bay. Those taking Muni or BART will get off at the Montgomery or Powell Street Station. Specific details are at http://www.sfmoma.org/visit.

    Yes, on the first Tuesday of every month, all SFMOMA visitors are admitted for free. And every Thursday evening admission is half-price from 6:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.
