Pop singers from Justin Timberlake to Prince can be heard doing high-pitched falsettos in their songs today, but opera singers who train to have their vocal range hit the stratosphere go by a very different name -- countertenors. Somewhere on the scale between a female contralto and mezzo-soprano, countertenor is a classical male singing voice that is difficult to perfect and even harder to maintain. Christopher Lowrey is a countertenor sensation who comes direct from London to join Voices of Music at St. Mark's Lutheran Church for The Art of the Countertenor, which will find the young performer singing arias of Handel, Bach and Vivaldi. From suave and beautiful sacred music to dramatic and virtuoso opera arias, this concert will be a feast for your ears.
