Holiday Things to Do in San Francisco - Outdoor Ice Skating Rinks

It's beginning to feel a lot like the holidays, and San Francisco's outdoor ice skating rinks are open for business! Glide across the ice, enjoy the crisp weather, and get a little exercise this year when you visit these popular attractions. You'll find one rink right here close to our hotel in Union Square, and one near the Ferry Building and Pier 39 at the Embarcadero Center.

Union Square Ice Rink: Surrounded by the shops, restaurants, theaters, and holiday buzz of Union Square, this iconic ice rink is located in the heart of the city. Advance tickets are available online via Eventbrite for $3-12, depending on the date and time. You can also buy tickets at the box office on-site (even if the tickets are sold out online), which opens at 9:45 am. Skate sessions begin at 10 am each day and continue until 1:30 am. Skate rentals are available for $6 and lockers are available for $3.

Embarcadero Center Ice Rink: Skate on the Bay Area's largest outdoor ice rink and enjoy a festive city setting with holiday décor. The Holiday Ice Rink at Embarcadero Center costs $7-11, and skate rentals are $5 per pair. The rink is open from 10 am to 9:30 pm Sundays through Thursdays, and from 10 am to 11:30 pm on Friday, Saturday, and New Year's Eve. Sessions are 90 minutes each and begin on every even hour.
